DEVELOPMENTAL CENTRE OF THESSALY

ANAPTYXIAKO KENTRO THESSALIAS (in English: Developmental Centre Of Thessaly – acronym: A.KE.TH. – D.C.T.), located in Trikala, Greece, is a non-profit organization and continuing vocational education & training (VET) provider. AKETH was founded in 2004 and is certificated by the National Accreditation Organization for Vocational Training/Skills. AKETH also, has been awarded for the implementation of its exemplary vocational education and training projects under Leonardo da Vinci programme over the past year from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY – Greek National Agency). Moreover AKETH is an examination center for E.O.P.P.E.P.’s [National Organisation for the Certification of Qualifications & Vocational Guidance (EOPPEP)] Certification of Educational Attainment for Non-Formal Education Adult Educators. Furthermore A.KE.TH. participates as a partner in the pilot implementation of the quality framework “π3” that has been developed by the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs. The π3 framework aims to create an open and feedback system in order to ensure the quality of educational services.
Our organization is making a constant effort to contribute substantially to equal access to knowledge in the society, to promote sustainability, healthy behavior and to shape a better future for individuals. One of our main objectives is to promote entrepreneurship and personal initiative, as we believe it’s the main way to help people get through the hard situation of unemployment that strikes many countries in Europe and especially on the South. A.KE.TH. – D.C.T. , has organized and acted as partner organization in over 40 EU mobility programs under the LLP program, the Youth in Action program, Comenius Partnerships and Grundtvig Multilateral Projects.
AKETH-DCT operates as a typical nonprofit organization. It is governed by the board of directors. The board is responsible for the policy of the organization and derives its jurisdiction from the Constitution of the Organization. The board’s work is coordinated by the chair and the board may organize itself into various committees responsible for carrying out different operations.
The organization’s staff is responsible for the administration and supervision of all projects. DCT’s administration includes an executive director and the office personnel. Executive Director is responsible for liaising with the Board, execution of their commandments and the overall supervision of the personnel who implement the projects of DCT.
DCT has several types of management areas. These include E.U. Programmes, National Programmes, Consultancy Services oriented to counseling and training of unemployed people and employees, Support and Consulting to SMEs.
AKETH’s mission is to provide certified education & training opportunities, consulting & assistance under the National and European frameworks, creating added value to all of the involvers.
